witch replacmet pump is better? what whould be the best? whats the diffrents beteween the 2 mellings pumps? btw im going with a HV pump... i need to get one for my 418w stroker witch should i get?

I went with the M83HV pump from melling on my 427w. Good Luck!

unless you are gonna be doing some serious rpm's or are really taking your car to it's limits, HV pumps aren't necessary at all. they do move more oil, but they also stress distributor/cam gears and the oil pump shaft.

HV pumps are for loose motors with large capacity pans

most "performance" engine rebuild kits now come with HV melling pumps..so you dont have much choice, just dont go with a high pressure pump!

all the pumps listed are probly made by melling, as far as volume, ide rather "WASTE" a little hp on extra oil flow than to be 10 lbs short at 6,500 rpm cause your oils hot and you bearings are broken in, you have car insurance right? so why not have a little extra oil"insurance" remember that oil not only lubes the bottom end BUT also cools it so the more oil that washes and lubes the bearing surfaces the better i run .0015 on my rods and mains with 10-40 kendall an have 50@idle and 70-75@ 6,000
