So with that in mind, do you or anybody here know if instead of buying a roller conversion kit (dogbone and spider retainer, etc) I can just reuse the one from the junk block onto a 351w that isn’t a F4TE?I would try and find one in better shape. Search “F4TE 351W roller block”. They came in 94 and up E series vans and F series trucks. Used to be fairly easy to find when I built the 351 in my T-Bird but that was about 10 years ago. If it was me I would scrap it and move on.
Some (hopefully) good news, found a ‘93 Lightning 5.8;You cannot. The lifter bores are shorter on non-roller blocks. You would want to get link lifter like Morels or whatnot and go from there. Thread from the Corral with Woody in it and that guy has built hundreds if not thousands of for motors. Ed Curtis also gives his .02 and he is super knowledgeable.

The f4te block accepts a factory roller setup, lifters included. I believe the block pictured above is roller ready based on the drilled and tapped boss for the spider.
