4.10s are in! impressions...

you guys are crazy....i love my 4.10 in my 5.0 and my rpm shift is near 5300 or so every gear. my buddy with an 01 cobra is debating on 4.30 cause of his 6500rpm shifting point but i wouldnt see why you wouldnt get a 4.10. i mean, whats the point of highway driving when you nail someone off of the line with a 4.10-4.30. if you have the suspension for a good, quick shot outta the hole, you are gonna put a lotta people to shame. on a stock car i wouldnt do toooooo much more than a 4.10 but i agree that on a 4.6 (you have so much more rev than me) i wouldnt suggest less than a 4.10. a 4.10 over a 3.27 or even a 3.73 is a pretty good difference. sorry to butt in but thats my experience with cars in general :)

I switched from 3.55's to 4.10's
The 3.55 were a good gear and great on top end and felt better than my friend's stock geared car. But now I can nail it in 2nd without touching the clutch at 2500rpm and get squirlly :D feels alot stronger in 1st thru 4th
At 70mph I'm at 2300rpm in 5th.

I ordered a set of 4.10's and a traction lok rebuild kit, going to do that all at the same time. Probably just going to put conventional rear end fluid in, because I can get it changed as often as I want, i work at jiffy lube ;)

I cant get alot of traction with the 3.27's so the 4.10's is gonna be killer, probably. Dunno if its gonna be a good thing lol.

Why 5500? The rev limiter is at 6050... I believe theres enough HP to push it to close to that if not to it.

My car acts fine without the gear calibration.. speedo is way off of course bit it shifts fine. It shifts way too early actually at WOT. I would seem the shift pattern is going by MPH instead of RPM.

In case you didn't notice, I was talking to the guy above when he said this:

153 MPH @5500 RPM

I was merely telling him what I got off my gear calculator for that rpm and gear setup.

got my 4.10 gears installed this morning, took 2 guys about 3 1/2 hrs. install went fairly smooth...

i pulled the car out onto the main highway and slowly accelerated. didnt feel any different at all. if someone had snuck them in i wouldnt have noticed any light throttle difference.

took it down the road making sure there was no noise...when i went to u-turn the downshift barked the tires :X
never done that before.

i havent really hammered into it yet, going to let them wear in a bit first. but i can definitely feel a good difference in pull. my diablo predator decided to take a dump and is not working at all so i cant calibrate it yet, however with the jerry mod and shift points i already had it shifts fine. holds the gears out a little longer than i'd like but nothing bad.
so much for the break in heat cycle

Thats all 2300 RPMs???Man in that case I may get 4.10s LOL, I am at like 1800-1900 or so at 70 with the 3.27s.I cant affect gas milage that much then if its that low RPMs, but I probably will buy an 03-04 cobra engine or at least a regular 4V after the 2V sees somewhere around 100,000-150,000 miles so I might be better off with 3.55s or 3.73s.BTW what is the top end of 3.73s at 5500 RPM, and in the 4Vs case, 6300 should be safe to get up to so what would it be then? Thanks
