I DID A SEARCH, and read all of the relavent threads on 7 different pages, but still have a few questions...

Heres a few specs...So the car is a 5 speed, its a vert so its heavy, and i'm well, slightly overweight :D. I have some heavy 18x9 chrome bullt rims with a 285/35 rear tire. The car will stay naturally aspirated, with long tubes, accufab 75 throttle body and plenum and CAI in the future. and probably not much else.

Heres a few things for consideration... The car is not a daily driver, its my weekend warrior. :D The car sees very little highway driving, with a few short stints on the hwys around town to get to where i need to. I dont take the car to the track very often, I might take it 1-2 times every 6 months. The car will see a lot of city driving and stop light racing. I really just want something to perk up the car and make it really really fun to drive around town. I'm not really concerned about hwy rpms.

is the benefit of having 4.30's over 4.10's worth it as far as the difference between the two when it comes to getting up and going. is 1st gear even usable???? is 4.10 the gear everyone goes with just because its the best gear for our engines and putting them in the rpm range? So, and suggestions?

UPDATE:///

4.30's have been ordered and are set to be installed 12/27 :D

I would get the 4.10's.
1st gear might be too short with 4.30's.
Plus, you'll be shifting like a maniac with 4.30's and may even lose accelaration gains due to being forced to shift into second earlier than if you had 4.10's.

i'll be getting my FRPP 4.10s + install saturday. $150 for parts and labor. :nice: its all about who you know. i'll give you some updates then. ive never driven or riden in a car w/ 4.30s, so i'll be comparing to stock

the first time I drove my car after I got my 4.10's installed I thought to myself "damn I should have gone with 4.30's" so many people told me that 4.10s would be a ridiculously steep, and I would be shifting way to much. But, after having them myself, I wouldn't even consider anything less then 4.10s on any mustang I ever get in the future

I rode in a '94 GT with 4.30's.. its a 5-spd and it pulls hard as hell! He doesnt have as much power as my car (not talkin trash, just what he said anyways) but it pulls just as hard, if not harder! I've got 3.73's by the way.

Can't wait to see ur car with the 4.10's Helty, it's gonna be SAWEEEET!

If your staying N/A you'll prolly like the 4.30's more. Of course you could always go steeper. Now if you plan on a power adder you may want 4.10's or 3.73's.
IMO 4.10's are a great all around gear on the mod motor's is kinda like what 3.73's were in a fox body.

Listen to JC!
If you're not gonna add a power adder then the .30's are the way to go. You'll get into heads, cams etc and they really like the gear.
You really can't go wrong either way but like I posted earlier, I've had both and this is the way to go!

and if i dont do heads and cams, but just the mods i want to do listed in the original post they'll be ok?

Dude, the 4.10's will do you right. I had them and went to 3.73's (I started with 2.73s) but that's just me and future power adders I have plans for. I thought I had gone a little much on the 4.10s so 4.30s and up would have been sick. It was all I could do to stay hooked up with the 4.10s in 1st and 2nd, the 3.73s keep me hooked up pretty well. If you ever drive in rain, you will really have to baby it a lot with the 4.10+ gears, I feel like the 3.73s are perfect all around gears (rain, town, highway, strip) although the 4.10s are a little more fun at the strip and around town.
