If i put 4.30s in my 03 gt with a 26 inch tall tire will i have enough rpm to make it down the quarter mile? I have cams and springs in the car. If i set the rev limiter to 6700 like in a mach 1 can i spray to 6400 since our bottom ends are the same?

What gears do you currently have? Whats your 1/4mile rpm and in what gear?

If you are revving to 6400rpm, the 4.30's shouldn't run you out of rpm's. However, if you are running the 4.30's with nitrous, then that might be a little too much for that rpm. I don't know anyone running 4.30's with nitrous tho.

4.30's and nitrous?! Have fun out of the hole! Traction is going to be near impossible with that set up.

If your spraying until 6400 rpm on a stock block, say bye bye to your engine.

+1 is this a daily driver? if so you're not going to enjoy driving it very much w/ 4.30's. the acceleration off the line would be nice but you'd be having to shift every time you got it into gear practically (i would imagine.) if you're even thinking about nitrous you should have an aftermarket intake (and forged internals wouldn't hurt either!!)i'd get a 3.73 or 4.10 and save up for a blower or something, i think you'd be alot better off in the long run.

I can't get it up......ok that didn't sound right.

I have 4.30 gears in an 01 GT automatic. I love them, but then again, I don't drag race my car. They're fine for daily driving and they're ok on the highway. The rpms do get a bit high once you're above 70mph, but still tolerable.

I personally don't recommend 4.30's with any power adder, unless if you have internal motor modifications that allows you to rev the motor to 6,500 rpms or higher. As the other guys have said, reving the stock block to 6,400 rpms on the stock bottom end is a disaster waiting to happen.

If I'm not mistaken, Mach 1's are more like a Cobra motor than a GT motor, aren't they ? They're a 32v DOHC setup, correct ?

The Mach 1 has an aluminum block with 6 bolt mains, Forged crankshaft, I think forged pistons ( I might be wrong though), but not forged rods. Its definately different from the Iron GT block & internals. & of course the Mach 1 is a 32V, & has 03-04 Cobra heads....

Don't the automatic Mach's have a cast iron crank? I thought only the 5-speed Mach's had the forged crank.

rods=weak point . Especially with a big shot of nitrous @ high RPM....

4.30s in a 2005 - 2007 GT?

Is there anyone currently running these gears on a new mustang for a daily driver? What rpms do you have at 80mph in 5th?
