4.6 Dual overhead cam engine in 64 1/2 Mustang?

I say if your planning to stay naturally asperated stick with the windsor platform because it seems easier to build N/A power on the pushrod windsors than the modular cammers.

BUT if you have any plans to add boost later on go with the modular motors, the forged Cobra internals can be had for fairly cheap and as was mentioned earlier are good for around 800hp. Once you beef up your internals you can easily make 1k horsepower with stock block, heads, cams, etc. VT engines just built a single turbo 5.4L DOHC 1500hp motor with stock block, heads, cams, etc.

EDIT: Also, i've seen '67 and up with modulars with stock shock towers and it was a tight fit but i'm not sure how the fit would be pre '67 because the shock towers are closer together...

I may not know everythin about it but straight up...Heidts web site shows the front end install (so you will know whats involved in that). To put the Modular in you will HAVE to (A) remove the shock towers and put in a Heidts or simillar front end or notch the shock towers (works but it looks like hell in my .02). As far as an auto trans I dont know what will fit without tunnel work,crossmember work will be needed eather way. You can use the MK wiring and comp or go carb......

Shock towers must go. Mustang II front is a must. Need a cross member with a angled notch cut in it so the oil pan will fit. Have put a 5.4 32v in a 67 but they are 2" wider than 65 or 6s. If you need I can get some measurements. This may give you a better idea.
