The 429/460s are torque monsters. There is ssooooo much there it is not even funny. :D
He's not exaggerating folks!
I used a bone stock 460 out of a 72 Lincoln, lots of miles and leaks... 3.28 gear, the torque was UNREAL.
The I-6 springs in the car would stretch straight up like a slinky when you touched the gas. I know it wasn't pulling the tires, but the front end would pull up so high it was doing everything but. This was a 71 Torino btw.
A quick install of a good ignition and a 750 DP Holley added a bunch more fun!
I have never built one, or even owned any other than this, but I can only imagine what a well built Lima would do.
It's crazy.
BBCs are not quite the same, I have owned a few and they never impressed me as much as that junkyard 460.

A hard decision. I´d stroke the 351, if you don´t wanna throw stacks of cash there... Alu heads and proper build up will get you far...
I am not sure that a 460 would cost more per HP to build than a 351w built to get the same HP/TQ.
You would get gobs of power for little money with a 460, but to bring the 351 to that level would surely cost more.
Granted 460 aftermarket parts are expensive, but you wouldn't need nearly as many aftermarket parts.

You should have had the heads ported. I had roller rockers and a Holley 600 vacuum secondary on mine. Anything past half throttle from a start made smoke signals out of the back tires.
