4cyl to 5.0 swap Question

Okay I did a search on this, and had one point of confusion.. The car I am getting is a 1993 Convertible with a 2.3 and an auto tranny. The donor car I have is an 89 Gt with a 5.0.. After reading through the search results, I found that not all harnesses are compatible, is my 89 harness not going to work? What year harness do I have to find to be a direct plug and play into the 93.. Thanks.

Also was wondering if the computer would work from the 89, or am I gonna need a whole new computer also..

Also I had another question about the gauge cluster, I am pretty sure my 89 won't work, so do I need one out of a 93 or will 90-93 work for the 140mph speedo?

swap everything. from headlights to tail lights. all the wiring. i did that with the 93 that I have. I used a 93 GT as a parts car. and everything works fine.

Well the car I am getting is a convertible and the car I have is a hatch, so I can't swap everything. I don't care if I have to buy a new engine harness, I just need to know for sure what one to get so I don't spend money on something I don't need, same with the gauge cluster. I just want to know what ones I need for sure

Like I said, use the entire harness. I have the harness for a hatch car in my notch. just keep the wiring for the top and add it to the other harness. Use the cluster from the 89 as it will physically fit where the other cluster resides. you will lose your airbag, but if it isnt a big deal to you then...

But like i said. swap everything. makes it MUCH easier in the long run. plus it dosent take much time.

The convertible is completely different though.. The motor top switch is where the rear defrost switch is in the hatch, which means it is a part of the dash harness. Plus there are four windows now instead of just two.. It won't work lol
