hmmm, u say you punch it but feel no go. try this:
pull off your air intake tube and have some one hit the gas pedal (while the car is off, of coarse). look in the throttle body to see if the butterfly valve fully opens. if not, adjust your throttle linkage.

you know how the stock manifold and the cobra uppers are different. they differ on the upper intake hoses.
also the pipe that comes from the lower manifold [in the rear] to the upper throttle body spacer in the stock intake, well on the cobra there is no tb spacer so that pipe, i had to connect it without passing it trough the tb spacer.

Have to agree on timing here. If you're timing is off then you will run hotter than normal. Changing an intake shouldn't make any difference. Did you mess with the timing at all? Set it 8-10, should work for you. Make sure that injector you used for replacement is a 19lb. (orange colored).

May sound like a dumb question, but did you set the timing with the spout disconnected?

i'm not the only one who caught that, huh. i'm almost positive the crowns used a 14lb injector. i have a few extra 19's laying around if you need one.

Lol!!! You should have done a little research on that first. Is the crown vic injector the same color as your others?

well the injector i put was also orange, almost all the digits were identical except for the last one.
i have heard trucks, family cars, and even 6 cyl stangs have 19lb---??? dont know for sure
hopefully it isnt the injector but just something as simple as the timing
just in case it is, how much would you sell the 19pounder for John???
I checked and yes the throttle boddle is opening all the way when the pedal is pushed on.
i havent gotten around to checking for leaks though
im still using EGR
another thing which is weird is that when i launch it the handbrake sign turns on around 3000rpm....???then when i let off it goes away

You sed the manny came with a one inch spacer. Did you put a gasket between both sides of the phenolic spacer if not that could be your vac leak.

Running hotter and no acceleration sounds like a vacuum leak to me.When I installed the Cobra intake on my 89, I picked up bottom, mid and top end. Knocked off .3 on ET

Ok, nothing brilliant to add here, but when I installed my Eddy for the first time (now x3), I used the FMS/Felpro 1262 intake gasket ( ) that had these weird ass bolt holes in the middle of coolant ports, which I neglected to trim, and that made my car run a little hotter (like 1 bar higher) as well as having a coolant surge before the thermostat opened. Since then I ditched the damn gasket and got me a different Felpro gasket from PepBoys, the one with rubber endseals ( ) for $20, which had the correctly shaped coolant ports. And oh yeah, my stock headead/cam car picked up hp/tq all over the powerband after just the Edelbrock install, so I agree that it must be something else like a vacuum leak.

well when i put the spacer i did put both gaskets, top and bottom, but i learned the hard way. the intake got scarred for life since i still have the stock hood. but even with the spacer it felt slow. i took if off and reused one of the gaskets just like that. without dots of silicone or anything. my best guess is that it might be the timing because its on 12. i've heard 10 is normal. you guys think this is it???

i definitly think that there are vacume problems. 1. if you have a vac. leak its past the point where air and fuel are metered, which can cuase your motor to run hotter than normal. 2. If it is a vac. leak that is bad enough to effect idle your car will not make full fuel pressure at W.O.T. fuel pressure could be down by as mucch as 10 psi. 3. if your TPS is no set write it will compound any other problems. 4. if your dist. was even 1 tooth off from where it was sopposed to be you wouldnt of even run 15.8 in the 1/4. 5. If you ran your vacume lines inccorectly nothing you do will help untill there write. As for cars getting slower with a street level intake change, almost all that i know of are from impropper install in some form.
