5.0 hipo/ upgrade!!

well, im scrapping the 5.0 hipo project! im still going to build my 5.0 but have acquired a set of aluminum gt40 svo heads.ive been looking at cams and.................still confused! ive looked at anderson n41,tfs stage 1, comp xe274hr. im not sure what to do! i have an edelbrock performer 289 4 bbl intake that i was planning to use. if i use one of these cams do you think at least a performer rpm or something equal?the performer is good to 5500 rpm and the performer rpm good to 6500. im trying to feel out a combo for fun driveability and zipper bulging midrange to around @ 6000 rpm max!i dont mind a mild lopey idle but its not important.with running a carb i wont be as limited as the EFI guys on the cam.with the alum heads ill be at @ 9.3 to 1 compression.so im thinking a smaller duration with more lift as to not bleed off too much compression.carb size @600-650 cfm.1 5/8'' shorty headers w/ x pipe to scavenge torque.it will be a five speed tranny with 3.50-4.10 gear depending on the cam.can anyone with experience with these types of builds lend some advice on the cam and intake selection that would match the heads and my build???thanks

5.0 build

do you think the performer intake will choke down or be a bottle neck in the upper rpm range. its supposed to be good to 5500 rpm. it shouldnt drop off that bad from 5500- 6000rpm i wouldnt think.a one inch spacer might fill the bill if it came down to it!and i was also leaning toward the tfs stage 1 cam too!!most of those cams didnt have very different durations or lifts. the only major difference ive been seeing are the lobe separations an the choice of split or single pattern designs.i wish i could get a little more compression but the pistons choices are surprisingly limited.and from what im told a combo like this actually makes alot of hp and torque in a usable rpm range.
