A buddy of mine has a 97 Cobra vert. He has no idea what other mods he can get to make his car faster, and since i'm a 5.0 guy, i really don't know what else to tell tim. he currently has 3.73 gears, pulleys, timing adjuster, cai, 2 1/2 x with dynomax. I told him to get the hypertech and a short throw shifter(steeda). What else can he get????

PS. he's currently running 13.5 on nittos

Longtube headers and a shorty x, 4.10s!, subframe connectors to stiffen that bastard up... Beyond that it gets a little more expensive but I would also suggest a solid axle swap if he wants to drag it a lot.

I was referring to 4.10 gears over his 3.73s.

Is he planning to drag this car a lot? Daily driver?

i know what you mean with the 4.10s, i just think i would be too steep for a 5-speed but i may be wrong.

There are a ton of us in the 4.6 world with the 4:10/5 speed combo. Personally I wouldnt get anything less than 4:10's.

You are wrong

The 4.10s are awesome for the 4.6s especially the DOHC.We don't make power til the upper rpms, and the faster we get there, the better. If he's staying N/A, you might even consider 4.30s.I wish I would have went 4.30s, but I love my 4.10s.aftermarket intake might be a way to go too.

yeah you might want to leave that part out.
As for the plenum, you should know considering you have it too. It's your intake, upper and lower plenum.

when we say pelnum we just talking about the upper intake, not the entire thing,a good 75mm TB/ plenum combo is good for ~10 rwhp accufab makes the most power, but u pay for it. if he wants a whole new manifold there are a couple out there but they are around the 1k range, swaping cams wouldnt be extremely expensive if he could do the labor himself, then theres always power adders. and id reccomend the diablo predator over the hypertech, it has A LOT more tuning options.

Do a search for them, there have been several threads, but I don't remember which one yielded the best gains. Some of the choices are :Accufab,Trickflow,C&L, and Dragon. I think I will probably go with the accufab because of preformance and it looks badass.

So sad, but true. Maybe one day we will get an affordable upper and lower combo.

i hear those plenums are a joke and not worth their cash. then again i have a cobra lol

most speed shops i spoke with said that a TB and plenum swap on a cobra is meaningless and will do not a whole lot for you. for now, they recommended 4.10 gears and exhaust work and thats it (until i decide to supercharge).
