Stock 120wtq is really not too bad for a small car like the Celica. It's definitely nothing to brag about tho, and there's no way it would beat a good running 5.0 Stang in an actual race, just saying that it might surprise some people. Like either people that really suck at driving, or people with slower stangs like an auto vert....that also really suck at driving.

I've found that for practically every sport-compact car, there's at least one person claiming that it'll whoop up on 5.0 Mustangs. One time when I was thinking about getting an Eagle Talon ESI, or whatever model the base 1.6L was, I found people online claiming to beat Mustang's and Camaro's all day with their stock 1.6L. I've found it's best just to ignore these people instead of getting worked up and arguing with them. They don't care about facts or numbers proving the 5.0 is faster, they only care about the races they've been in, which for all we know could have been against a rebadged V-6 with dual exhaust or maybe the guy in the 5.0 wasn't even racing.

Yeah I get that a lot, where I'm not even trying and they are racing me. I always get that feeling like damnit I should have smoked him, but oh well.

I read up on the import forums from time to time and I notice a lot of people reporting their dyno numbers and cars they beat but never 1/4 mile times And when someone asks for 1/4 mile times, you get about 50 people saying 'who cares what it can do in a straight line' . . . All I can say when people get that way is "HAHAHA"

Until I started paying attention to the import guys, I never realized how much of a benchmark the 5.0 cars are to them.

I know they run mid to low 15's. They are right up there with an rsx -type-s
And the 00-01 are the fastest cause the rev limter is at like 82k,and the 02+ is set at 78k.

Dude that is the truth. Civic guys around my area talk about my car like, "omg it's a 5.0". I let them talk it's definitley a compliment. They don't know how slow my car really is.
