Could a stock 5.0 with a 5spd beat a stock 2001 gt with an auto? cuase my freind is always trash talking the foxes, and i want to make sure i can kick the crap out of him this summer when i get mine, especially since around where i live most of the 5.0s i find are stock, or barley modded. i know his is 260hp and a 5.0 is like 225, but what do you think

Yeah my 01GT is pretty quick with just a K&N especially on top end- it's an automatic. If you keep your foot in it it'll shift at red line.

Don't race him on top end cause you'll probably lose- the 5.0 is a redlight to redlight car (but keep it at the track )

no way a stock 5.0 can keep up with a 99+ GT... the 99+ gts are better cars in almost every single aspect.

If you plan on not looking stupid, but better fit a blower under ur hood before the race.

You wont necesarily need a blower but mine kept up with poorly driven bolt on cars and beat alot of them

just add a few upgrades look at my signature i have out run the 99 and up with the PI intakes honestly were about dead even running 14.2-14.4 in the quarter mile.usually the win goes to the best off the line..you don't need a blower to keep up when i add the explorer intake upgrade to mine this year i will have no problem out running them.

yea, but here is the thing, i have been in his car, its quick but nothing special. i mean idk if anyone here lives in michigan, but we went cruising gratiot, and raced a 2002gt with a 5spd manual and he KILLED us , then a fircking 01accord and we BARLEY beat him the first time, we did like a 35mph roll and he kept up with us nose to nose the whole time till he gave. then we did a drag and he kept up with us untill at least 4th. if i had like a 303 cam, 3.73 gears, a better intake, and an msd ignition coil u think i could do it?

Got the original version of your Avatar bcd?

Anyway, i've witnessed a bone stock automatic 99+ GT running a 14.2 at the track.

My 5-spd GT has gone 14.1 bone stock.

They don't "feel" fast when you ride in them because the 5.0 produces torque low in the RPM range while the 4.6L must be revved to move.

But bolt on's can help your 5.0. I said my 5-spd GT ran 14.1....but my AOD 5.0 is slightly quicker with just simple bolt ons.

I have both and until I started putting some bolt ons on the 5.0 it would have won the 60' battle but lost the 1/4 mile war. Now it is a drivers race.

225fwhp vs 265fwhp? Even the weight difference wont allow the 5.0 to win it. Of course, the older the 5.0, the less fwhp...

I've seen 99+ GT's drive high 14's at the track.

Let's just say there are a lot more POOR driver's out there than those that can actually wring out the 13.8-14.2 that these cars can run stock.

Then again i've seen 15 second 5.0's as well.

Anything is possible with stang on stang heads up racing
