50-130 pull with RSX type S

Well a year ago, as gas went up I decided to trade my 01 GT for something more fuel efficient. I went with a Mazda 3, which is suprisingly fun. I hope to keep it and buy a new stang when i graduate in May :D Well being the huge mustang fans my family is I occasionally drive my parents Stock 03 GT around town. I was just cruising around when an Acura RSX type S pulls right out in front of me. As we get up to the next light im behind him and i hear him reving his engine. The light turns green and he takes a left so i follow, I hear him get on it so I do the same. We are on a road the you can get some serious speed on, its about a 5 mile straightaway. The car in front of him turns off and i hear him punch it, im going about 50, I put it in 3rd and nail it. We go all the way up to 130 and im damn close to the rev limiter in 5th and i never pulled on him. He didnt pull either though, I started about 3-4 car lengths behind and never caught up. Im not sure what he had done to his car, but I was impressed. I've owned 2 mustangs and always driven a stick, so its not bad driving. I know it wasnt from a stop but still. Anyone else have a similar story.

That's kind of weird, unless it was a newer RSX and those have more power than the older ones. I raced my friends basically stock RSX and he barely pulled me by more than a car length, granted it wasn't up to 130 either. A 99+ manual should have no problem beating a stock type S based on that run IMO.

lmao!!! dude you lost to an acura?? lol!! come on! i know my car isnt the fastest in the world but thats like losing to a civic si!!

I've seen this race numerous times.. stock vs stock.

The RSX-S wins every time, if it's the newer one.

Even my brothers celcia gt-s has beaten 3 different gt's that were basically stock.

I'd like to see the new rsx-s vs the early gt-s, from 2000. Now that would be close.

You're kiddin right. How does a stock low 15 to high 14 second RSX always beat a GT? You just lowered my IQ. I have NEVER lost to an RSX in either GT ive had, modded or not. Its been close a few times with some modded ones (not turboed) but never lost. Where are you seeing these races? clubrsx.com?

dude theres no way you were near your rev limiter at 130 in 5th......i can hit 155 and not be close to my rev limiter. and 3rd gear at 50? DAMN YOU WERE LUGGIN' IT! c'mon man.....dont let a honda beat you!

:stupid: I beat one in my 98GT (automatic) i'm confident with my mods in my new GT that i'd have NO problem with one

Maybe you guys are confused on which car we are speaking about.. the 06 rsx-s runs low 14 quarter mile times.

It's possible a few of the people who posted in this thread are not taking into account the difference between the newer and older rsx.

I'm not a downer on the GT.. it's the simple fact that I have seen it NUMEROUS times, in person. One of the races was from a dig, also.

It's not a shameful loss, after all. The new rsx-s and civic si have one of the best four cylinder going right now.

there are pretty fast even the old ones. with intake, full exhaust and hondadata they will run high to mid 13s with a good driver
Very true and those are the races when i said it was a close one. BUt to say that a stock RSX always beats a stock GT is just extemely ignorant and not just because im a Mustang guy. I love all cars but hate when people misinform otheres.

Okay.. well I'm not pulling this out of my ass.

It's happened, and I've seen it.. like I said. You can believe what you wish, you can breakdown numbers and weight all day long.. I've seen three practically stock mustang gt's 99+ lose to an 06 rsx-s each time.

At BEST.. I'd give the matchup to the better driver, if its even that close.

I'm telling you... go find one to toy with, and you'll see what I'm talking about. The gearing and the new adjustment to their vtech definitaly makes them something to look out for. I love my car, and all mustang's to death.. I'm really a v8 head.. and I still am not going to deny a car its rights.

QFT
they are not as slow as most american muscle owners believe them to be

my bro had an 06 RSX type S....and it was nearly dead even with stock GT's. v-tech feels incredible. i drove his rsx for a few whole days and can tell it would put up a very good fight against a stock GT.

Sorry guys but the RSX is a high 14~low 15 second car. They do feel fairly quick to drive but a stock GT will eat them for breakfast. How do I know you ask? Well, I have an 05' 6 spd RSX Type-S sitting in my driveway :)
