I got to the 500 rwhp mark a few months ago on the stock shortblock. So far I have had no issues. It is pretty much my daily driver in the summer so it sees a lot of road time, and some track time. I am hoping to get another year out of it at the current HP. Then I should have enough for a dart block setup.

Hi
Well I drive it to work 2 or 3 times a week depending on weather. It's a vert and doesn't see much rain . Anyway I go WOT a couple times a week, I figure to enjoy the car. Hard not to for me when I have the power. I have had this setup since spring. It does have a "safe tune".

I'll throw this out. Have some money for extra things if possible. More power = new tranny, etc. Anyway when you get over twice stock HP stock things will break . I ran at the track 2 weeks ago and ran a 12.3 @ 117 in the 1/4. My DR's started moving around and took some paint off the wheel wells. ( I run 325/50/15's) Now looking at the boxes that hold the control arms now .

Anyway have fun!!

I probably hit WOT 1 or 2 times a day durring the week, and a little more often on the weekend. I would probably do it more, but I am still on the stock waffles and tires. 1st spins the tires at anything over half throttle, and 2nd spins them over at anything over 3/4 throttle. It hooks up pretty good in 3rd, but by that time I am over the speed limit. It is definately fun to drive. I just need to invest in some wider wheels, and stickier street tires.

Just for measure, my 331 hit 595 rwhp on a 200 shot with a stock block, eagle rods & crank, JE pistons, ARP throughout, balanced and blueprinted on a stock '95 block. I've ran this combo for two seasons and the only thing I've done to it is change the oil and replace head gaskets (I'm not sure which I've done more often). It's held up to anything that I've thrown at it but, of course, YMMV.

BTW, I'm retiring the shortblock from racing and will either sell it sans H/C/I or get a roller and have a nice little street rod. It's been a killer combo but I'd like to keep everything that's inside the motor, well, inside the motor. I do know that I've pushed my luck but then again, if it's built right you can go a lot further than you'd think.
