50Restos Wheel kit question

Yea the chrome pony's are nice, but I'm just not feeling them on my car. Too bright and yelling hey look at me!!

Plus they will run about $250 more than my anticipated budget

Its going to be a tough decision. but hey, Spring isn't here yet.

I know what you mean. Ultimately I'm planning on going with silver (17x8/9). If my '92 was a darker color I might be more tempted. Normally I don't even consider chrome wheels but the Pony R's got my attention.

Keep in mind Pony Rs are available in silver, too.

I just think plain-jane stock 16" silver Ponys on your car would be a step backwards.

The 17" chrome Pony Rs may scream "look at me"" but they also scream "this is my hobby car". That and its not like you're running 24" spinners, yo.

Maybe I should just stay with the 10 Holes

how bout these 95 cobra r style wheels? Just throwing that one out there. Silver 1995 Style Cobra R Wheel - 4 Lug 87-93 (16x8) at AmericanMuscle.com - Free Shipping!

Those wheels are overdone. Wayyyyy too many people have had those on their car at some point, and I'm not a fan of them in 4 lug to begin with.

Sorry if I'm pushing my ideas on you too much man, its your car, do what you like. I just think that if you like how Ponys look, you should definitely go with staggered 17" Pony Rs, IMHO.

Cardomains down, but glostang I think you have seen the pics of my Reef Blue hatch with the ponys on it? Those were 245/50/16s all the way around. They looked great on there, but I did run a spacer up front. The 4cyl has a narrower track than the 5.0, and although I did it for looks, there might be room issues without one.

I also agree, the 17"x8" Pony Rs with some 245/45/17s would be PERFECT on your car! Would look insane!

Thanks 25th... so you added the spacer so the wheels would sit out a little more so the wheels would have a wider track? I called 50 resto and they didn't know of any reason that the wheels wouldn't fit without a spacer. Just picking your brain now. I appreciate the pics you posted up.

Thanks, and yes I put an 1/8th inch pacer out front, because to my knowledge the 4cyl front set up actually tucks the wheels in some, basically has a narrower track. I have never done the research to know if this is true, and if so how much, I just know I put the wheels on, they were too tucked and I used some spacers we had and ran them like that.

I'm fairly sure the wheels would have fit fine on the front without the spacer, I did it for looks. I am very particular on how my wheels and tires sit vs the fender of the car!

I'm sure someone here knows the track specs on the 4cyl vs 5.0 cars? I would be interested to know as well.
