As part of my resto / mod on my '65 stang, I'm upgrading the front suspension and steering to the V8 parts. :nice:

According to ALL the catalogs the Pitman arm and the Idler arm are the same, in both the I6 and V8 configurations.

However, the new Idler arm I have does not match any of the diagrams, or my old Idler arm. Nor does my old Pitman arm match any of the diagrams. INCLUDING the diagram in the FORD SHOP MANUAL! Yes SuperDave, I'm reading the FSM!:nonono::bang:

PLEASE!!!! Does anyone have a photograph, or can any one get a photo, of the MANUAL steering set-up for a 1965 with a V8. :hail2:

Thanx! :nice:

compare the idler arms here. The 6th pic down is for I-6, probably what you have(manual steering I-6). I think when I6 had power steering they used the V-8 idler.

I just did the swap today. My I-6 steering was PS, had the same stuff as the V-8.
Thanx.....The Idler arm I have matches what they are showing. Weird thing, my I6 Idler arm looks like a combination of their I6 arm, with a shortened version of the bracket.....there is NO nut on either the arm or bracket!

My Pitman arm looks a little like the I6 m/s Idler with the two holes and the offset. The center hole was where the tie rod attached, and the end hole was where the center drag link attached. :(

Well, it looks like I have two more parts to aquire, an Idler arm bracket and a Pitman arm.

Thanks again! :nice:

If you are not in a hurry I will have a full set available. I bought one of the quicksteer kits that I will be putting on in the next few weeks. I was gonna put them on E-bay, but would rather sell them cheap to the BBFCM. Let me know if you are interested.
