65mm or 70mm tb

65mm would be perfect for your setup. The only way I'd go with a 70mm is if you have a blower or nitrous planned in the near future... Even then a 65mm would still be a good size. And yes, go with the FRPP because like mentioned, it does come with new electronics.

I was told even with the turbo, I still don't need anything larger than a 65mm.

You couldn't have been told anymore wrong. Must have been an internet racer who gave you that 100% wrong advice.

Go 70mm minimum for your car, slytherin. Im doing a 75mm when I get the cash as recommended by ed curtis :) Goal is to go faster not take internet racers advice.

You know, me and you don't agree that much, but you couldn't have said it any better. I don't chime in these opinion type polls because most of the time my opinion and experience happens to be contrary to the popular belief.

Yeah, we have different opinions i've noticed. Thanks for agreeing with me though, these TB size posts can get very heated soemtimes. Sad part is, the popular belief is just a bunch of non-racing internet racers who have no hands on experience what-so-ever. I'll say it again, i'd do a 70 or 75mm for that car. I'll take what Ed C recommends to me over what a 17 year old internet racer "recommends"

I'd like to see the exact same car run with a 65mm tb a few times, then a 70mm tb a few times... My guess is that the times wouldnt be that far off for it to really matter. I'm going to be switching to a fox 70mm TB sometime, but there are a lot on here running good times with a 65mm. I believe Paul is running a 65mm and is in the low 12's N/A. Go with the 70mm... It couldnt hurt.

Now I gotta say that I respect all opinions here, but i think that MM&FF or 5.0 performed a dyno shoot out testing different sized TB's. Their results may prove siginificant in your search for a proper TB. If I remember correctly the dyno numbers showed that on a NA car, a larger TB (read 75mm) netted more power in their shoot out than 65 and 70mm's.

However, when they dynoed a supercharged 302 the results showed that more power was gained from using a 65mm TB.

I dont know all too much about air velocity yet, but I am learning and these results seem to make sense. A wide straight straw like tube for NA, a small bottle neck before the intake which increases air velocity (somehow) for forced induction.
I hate to bring on a dragged out discussion, but I'm sure I remember reading about this test. (It was published a few years ago though) I wish I could prove it but I am studying in Australia until July.

wasnt it Accufab that wont release a aftermarket TB for our cars because during testing they couldnt make a design that actual gained power over the stocker??....

Anthony
Thats correct. I remeber someone posting an email from Accufab saying they wouldnt make TB's for the 94/95's because they couldnt get any power gains and they wouldnt sell a product that doesnt produce gains... Not sure if it was for all sizes or just a few.

I called dynotec they have a mobile dyno and shop with a rep from roush that comes in twice a month to do dyno tunes and custom chip burns for $450 out the door. the guy from the shop said i should run 70-75mm maf and 70mm tb. so i may wait to do both parts and do the dyno tune & chip.
