Hey everyone! I am gathering parts for my setup. Going to install AFR 165s. b303 cam, and an edelbrock performer intake=what size throttle body from ford racing do I go with 65 or 70? edelbrocks website says to go with the 70mm "for optimum performance. I always thought a 65 was plenty for a mild street combo. Thanks for any help!

just match your tb to your intake if you don't plan on more mods in the future. a larger tb will hurt throttle response slightly if the rest doesn't match. i'm running a 70mm tb on a stock intake, but i plan on doing a lot more engine mods in the future, so i'm not worried about it. it is port matched to the stock intake though(a LOT of grinding BTW), but it's not the best for what i am running now.

65 is plenty, but the 70mm throttle body is the same size opening as the Performer intake opening. To bad it necks down to less than 65mm in the intake tract anyways:)

It is just a 'general rule.'

I think the 65 will be more than enough for your combo...however the intake is matched for a 70mm TB so i would go with that.

You will likely notice a change in off idle throttle response with the larger TB...but nothing too negative. should be a strong running combo...

However if i were you i would save the money for the TB and use it towards a custom cam. The stock TB wont hurt you as much as a custom cam would gain you. Or you can try to find a used 65mm explorer TB for cheap AND get the custom cam!

If i would have known better when i put my combo together i most definitely would have gotten a custom cam! good luck man
