came across a 68 428 coupe 4 speed with shaker hood, the guy cut the roof off in the 70s to fix another car, every thing is gone except body ,inc hood no title, is it worth anything? rust free, cut top at factory spots.

Do the VIN and ID (door plate) numbers support your findings? If it is a genuine article it may be worth something to a rebuilder.

A 68 with a shaker hood? Never seen one of those. None of the 68.5 that I have seen ever had a shaker hood.

shaker didn't come out until 69, if it's really a 68.5 R-code car it will have a hoodscoop similar to the 69/70 mach 1 and 69 GT. just make sure it really is a an R-code car, it's absolutely worthless if it's not, the fifth digit in the VIN will be an R if the car is for real.

If you pull back the fenders and the fifth digit in the VIN is blank don't be dismayed. Some of the 68 428CJ cars had a blank where the "R" is supposed to be. Mine does.

I think it would be worth having if it doesn't cost you too much. That is a very rare car. Most of them were fastbacks. A top and other parts could be taken off of another coupe. It would cost a lot to fix it up but there aren't too many of them around. I've been to a few big Mustang shows and never saw a 68 1/2 R code coupe. Is it a GT?
