so i might be out of luck finding a good 8.8 to build without buying a brand new housing, so what im looking at now is doing the same build in a 7.5. components including a true detroit locker, 3.73 gears, full bearing and seal kit, upgraded axles, and 9" nitto 10s. My only concern is down the line, when i decide to do heads cam intake and nitrous, that it wont hold up on the track or through rigorous street driving?
Iv got the cash to do it, and i wanna get it done before summer ends, so do i holdfast and find the 8.8 (more time, more expensive ) or can i trust a built 7.5???

I've seen a bunch of opinions with no experience myself. Some say the 7.5 is junk, others say it can last as long as you're not doing hard launches on slicks. Personally I'd hold out for an 8.8, there looks like about a million of them available on car-part.com.

The individual axles in the 7.5 and 8.8 are the same for the 94-98 model years, not sure about other years. So you can re-use those parts from the 7.5 if you're on a tight budget. Nothing else will carry over, as far as I know.

You are correct on all accounts, only axles will carry over. But i got a ford racing 3.73 and bearing/seal install kit, and a detroit locker in the works, with the 9" nitto 101s im runnin, idk how long theyll last lol.
Stock axle strength thread coming soon!
