after all this time and effort this POS will not let me win.

current problem.

Symptoms:

Car will not accelerate... car feels like it is not advancing timing when throttle is placed.

Things done:

Timing is set at 10
new plugs
new wires
new dizzy
new cap
new rotor
new TFI ignition modual
new mouse living under my driver seat because it doesn't go anywhere!
new nuse to hang myself with

suggestions...

didn't see this listed but maybe you just forgot it... do you still have the stock coil? Was the timing set with the spout out? Have you checked all the vacuum lines? How is the idle? just figured I'd throw out whatever I could think of. good luck.

Idle is rock solid at what ever i tell the computer to idle at, right now 700rpm
timing is set with the spout out
vacuum lines are new

what i really need is some test to trace wires that command the addition of spark from the ICM/TFI to the distributor. with what readings they should be at.

I have another entire wiring harness that i can swap, but i would rather run real tests rather than throwing parts at the issue

I've honestly never paid much attention to the spout plug
but
I kinda sorta think all it is ... is a device to make a short :)

If that is so
All you gotta do is make sure those two wires are positively connected ;)

Ok think car came 5.0Ho now just 5.0 the fire order was half .i cant answer if pcm is the only control on when injector fires if pcm is maybe worth checking

its a 5.0 ho motor, im going to check all wires for resistance. Ill get started tomorrow. I have so many guides and diagrams, it will keep me busy for a day. ill have to find something.

fuel is perfect and responsive to my tune, o2's work perfect.

the symptom would be that of driving your car w/o the spout plugged in...

ill know more tomorrow, i already pulled and sprayed it, i might just temp splice the wires together to rule out the plug

I started reading from your prior post .at your age its hard to understand whats wrong with car. On your last post you said you need a pointer for timing yes?with cell phone i cant search 7 months back but i assume hissin has already spoken.even if im wrong here it cant hurt .make sure you are on compression stroke at tdc if no pointer yet pull plug and cap.piston up and rotor pointing to 1 on cap not to where ever the wire is now .tdc and 1 on cap set make sure dizzy is centered so you have room for adjustment.turn engine by hand till rotor points to next cyl. Than feel for piston in cyl.that will tell what order is. Your story sounds this way to me

i replaced the entire ecu wiring harness, ran some tests and certain pins fail.
in doing so the wiring to the spout and icm have been replaced.

Ill pull the spark plug and turn the engine. ill double check the timing that way.
i'll report back

check your tps voltages.
i had a n/a 331, a "street" setup, eddy rpm heads, rpm2 intake, the same cam, aode and 3.27's.
wasnt no where near as fast as it should have been, but it needed more gear. the tps read like 1.3 at idle, blade all the way closed...made the load read funny at idle, had more than it should have. when i get the new combo running, and i have the same problems, im figuring the tps wiring will be the cause. keep in touch on this one, we might be able to help each other out.
does your headers glow by any chance? make a wot run at night, and do u have a WB?

tps is set at .98 volts.
tps is also hooked up to my wideband and a volt meter checked for any dead spots.
Headers don't glow, checked wires at night for arcing, they are fine.
Car barely accelerate... WOT is not possible, i don't believe our symptoms are the same.

drill out the openings on your tps if you have a fox conversion, voltmeter check till you get your voltage down. Thats what i needed to do

i dont have the conversion...yet.
when i go to a 90mm tb i will need to do it, unless i can modify the cables and what not to make it work.

mine was caused from timing, it was alot lower than 10. i think the cam timing was off a little also, that made the headers glow big time. i used a degree wheel and got it in the right and no more glow. see if you can borrow another timing light and bump base timing to about 12.

ooo, maf and iat- check those. make sure they are clean & working correctly.
