77 Mustang II X-mod

When they first came out I was wondering if this would work...

Any idea if the newer "Evolution" chassis will work also?

The Gen 1 cars are no longer sold by RS and seem to be bringing pretty good prices ($99) for new imports.

Thanks.

I have finished the project. The mini II looks great!!! It is my understanding that the evo and the gen 1 bodies interchange. I trimmed a spare Camaro front bumper and glued it to the underside of the model for the front body mount. (you can't see any of it from the outside). I used an extra rear body mount and some un-used model parts to form the rear body mount. I renforced the bumpers with pieces from the model. The model car body is now as strong as an X-mod body. It has been torture tested!!! I adjusted the wheel wells slightly with 120 grit sand paper. Although the wheel wells are enlarged, it does not affect the II-ness of the car. I think between the fact the model is slightly larger in scale 1/24 vs 1/28 and the fact that you have to form the body mounts, there would be no reason why it would not work with a evo x-mod. Our radio shack A.K.A "The Source" is selling off all their X-mod Gen one stuff at really deep discounts. Cars are going for $24.99!!! :D

My X-mod addiction has temporarly taken a back seat to my real II project. I was hoping to buy new wheels for my II with either the money from selling my truck (can't seem to sell it) or my tax refund, which has not come yet! So in the mean time I bought some used 14" magnum 500's which I am going to throw some used tires onto, untill I can aford some new rolling stock. I have a few more shots on my camera that I am saving for the freshly painted magnum's. That film has my rear 5 bolt conversion pics and the X-mod II pics on it so stay tuned hehe:D
