Hey I took my car down to the drag strip and ran the 1/8th for the first time with my new motor and mods. the car is a street car, not set up for drag at all. im wondering is 8.83 in the 1/8 mile pretty quick for street mustang or normal for the street? i dont really know where i stand right now haha, it would be nice if you guys that usually run the track could give some input. Thanks.

Yeah that's good. That's about a 13.8 in the 1/4 mile.

thats cool. im not a regular at the strip, actually it was the 2nd time i was down there, first time was when the car was stock. i had incredibly bad reaction times, because im not use to taking off at that tree, the lights go so fast. reaction time was 1.16. maybe i could have pulled 8.5 seconds or somthing if my R/T was better i dont know.

Na R/T doesn't affect ET. Just remember to take off when the last yellow light is lit. By the time your on the gas, it will be green.

You could probably bring your times down quite a bit with some more practice and a set of slicks.

def. room for improvement. should be running mid-low 13s on street tires, mid - high 12s with slicks. Whats the 60 ft? What rpm were you launching at and how did you launch?

60 ft was 2.06 seconds. i launched around 2800 rpm, spinning a little but not too bad. shifted a little short in 1st gear at 5 grand, ran 2nd gear out to 6 grand.

are most guys out on the street running better than 8.8's in the 1/8? because i never have problem running srt-4 neons and wrx sti's, but on the internet it says they run practically 8.8's stock!

driving maybe, not bad 60', little quicker shifts/more practice could bring that down some.

yeah its auto but i still manually shift it. i think the automatic does pretty good with that 3200 stall and shift kit in it.

I know, I was just telling him that you can't really shift quicker because you have an auto. Just shift it up into the next gear and that's as quick as it gets. lol

I've never seen an 8.8 inch rear snapping drom too much power in a mustang, especially just an HCI car. 8,8 would have been enough
