Build Thread '83 T-top Coupe - Cliff Notes Edition

Ok, pulled out the worst of the dents.

Then I mudded the lower. It blocked out very nice. Those fox lower door waves are no more.

I had a little more time so I ground the primer out of the way around the door handle and slung some more mud. I'll block it out tomorrow.

Hopefully tomorrow I'll finish the bondo stage and be able to get it back in primer.

10-holes are nice and classic, but I feel a set of pony wheels would look a lot cleaner. Plus Dave can probably refurbish them in some magical manner to make them look brand spanking new.
Fifty bucks is fifty bucks though, just needed something to make it roll.

I agree ponies would be nicer though.

I really want a set of these. I keep Jeff's picture handy so I can lust over it.

Got the mud work done and got primer on the door. I'll probably start blocking it tomorrow. 220, then 320, then reprimer, then final blocking. I'll flip the door after I reprimer and get the seam sealing done though.

Opinion time!

I picked up my "new" wheels today. I might be keeping these for a little bit until I can afford the new wheel/tire combo.

I think 10 holes are ugly, maybe paint. Take a look at this picture and tell me what you think can improve this ugly design. This is an initial idea. Andy's green is that color I used for the GLX emblem on the hood.

I did my initial blocking this morning with 180. I couldn't be more pleased with how the bondo turned out. It's a straight door now! Woohoo!

One more blocking with 240 and reprimer today.

Something else today. I decided to try grey in the center of the wheel with a brushed look around the rim. I didn't paint the holes. I'm not sure how that'll look until it's done baking then I'll set it next to a nonpainted one for a comparison picture. I used a satin clear. It's just wet in the picture.

So, masked and then painted

With the sun lamp on it-I really dig the grey-my only concern is-in the shade/overcast/night-it looks black..
Have you done a side by side with your painted wheel and blue door? (Door looks Amazing :nice:.)
I'd vote either paint them kona blue or polish the holes lol.
First, side view.

Then with the door, I think I like it.

Hey,
I tried finding the foam pieces you reference, but classicautoair.com only goes from '64 to '73. Is that the right url where your got your kit?

Thanks.
The kit I got was for '86-up, they didn't have one for the earlier fox bodies at the time. Let me see if I can find the receipt for it. I got it a couple years ago.

Here you go, this is what I can tell you.

Send Mike an email (if he still works there), or look on ebay. That's how i found this kit.

Alright, let's say my interest has been tweaked a little here concerning a super coupe engine.

I texted Danny (the yard owner where my blue car sits). I remembered he had at least one super coupe t-bird there. I asked him if he might be willing to part it out.

He got back back to me and said he has several and has one with a blown head gasket that he might part out!

So, I have a donor car.

He hasn't quoted a price for the drivetrain yet, I might ask him how much he wants for the whole car. If I remember correctly, didn't they have four wheel disc brakes?

Fact is, I think they had IRS. I need to do some googling.
