okies ppl this is a doozy,
12 miles a gallon is just nuts I rebuilt the carb once not much improvment, well I have decided it's time to see what I can do otherwise,
I know I need the fuel pump, the efi and intake manafold and well air filter assembly, the computer and well I need to rewire the whole darn car, now if I look at a chiltons it pretty much shows me the wiring shematic, but do you guys have some more advice, why do I want to do this you might ask,
well #1 gasoline at 2.71 9/10 is a bit much to be driving at 12 miles a gallon
#2 I can pull pretty much any part needed at the pick-a-part half-off sale
#3 I got no money for a new car and my mechanic works cheap but that carter YFA really is beyond him now I have seen him clean fuel injectors and make the biggest pile of junk work, With cheap I mean he's my bro in law's cousin and he'll work for beer and peanuts
well in his spare time.
I'd love to drop a rebuilt svo motor in there, but I can't afford that right this minute the 2 grand that will cost me is just too much.
Basically I need to know three things
#1 any pitfalls I might encounter
#2 any parts I didn't mention
#3 what gage wire do I need I'm going to just cut off the wires on the computer ergo take the plug with me and put brand new wires on (i'm a computer geek and I can solder if need be. (can I reuse the the connectors I have?)
please let me know
