86 GT Drag strip fun

Ok so I got an 86 GT AOD(yeah I know). It has e6 heads(again I know)and stock everything else. I ran a 9.01@77mph down the 1/8 at Irwindale. Everybody was coming up asking where my NOS lines are and what gears I have. I think I got 2.73 gears(if that is whats stock on a 5.0). Beat an SRT4 neon,vert 86 with intake and gears, v6 camaro,and a 96 gt stang. I am happy with my car. I did the AOD shuffle all night with no problems.

See, everybody believes that the E6 heads make half the power of the E7s. They aren't fantastic but they aren't too far off the E7s in stock form either.

It is just funny all the ricers and guys with Aero stangs kept looking for NOS bottles, Drag radials, I even had a guy looking at the heads to see if I hid some GT40's on the engine

was this last night? was your car the red 4 eye or the primer black one?

Yeah, a 9.01 is very impressive for that car. I am shocked actually. I know my Mark will kill a stock Fox and I was only pulling upper 9s at the track. Sure it was a crap preped track and launching is a PITA with no trac loc but your 9.01 is very impressive. Must have done the drivers mod already.

yeah i need the driver mod, my buddies with similar setups on their trucks were running 9.5's so im gonna work on that

Yeah I started by running 9.9-9.8. Then I started driving my pony like it wants to be driven and my times started coming down. So practice makes perfect. Yeah I am actually shocked at what my car was running. It started hooking better as the temp came down.

yeah my tires are garbage. I had my pressure at 22lbs on street tires. I need to start a "I Need Drag Radials" collection
