87-93 alum D/S... whats needed to make it work

So i have a question, if this DS is said to be used on both models, then why do the 94-95 guys need a spacer when u switch to a fox style tranny setup?(tremec. etc)

There is a difference in length somewhere, we know that stock, 94-95's have a longer input shaft/bell housing so that puts the tranny back further. If the tranny is back further doesnt that make a 94-95 DS shorter?

If it doesnt matter, than why do we need a spacer to run a fox style tranny setup? If the DS's are the same then we shouldnt need a spacer correct? Since the difference in the bellhousing/tranmission doesnt affect which DS you can use.

Any thoughts?

Oh yea, im asking cause i have a FRPP Aluminum DS.

where can you get one of these spacers from?

It still doesnt matter whats different or the same, if what you guys say is true, than guys with the FRPP driveshaft do not need a DS spacer when switching to a tremec tranny on a 94-95.

But we all know that you need a spacer. I know that you can still run a tremec/fox style Tranny setup on a 94-95 WITHOUT a spacer, but its not the proper way and i believe it has something to do with the angle or something along those lines. I remember the guy at www.ddperformance.com who said that to me. It will all fit without a spacer, but its the wrong way to do it.

the fox body transmission setup is 5/8 shorter thab ours. the ford racing aluminum d/s is for 87-95 automatic or manual. yes the fox wheelbase is shorter.

Cool. So explain why you need a spacer if you put a tremec in a 94-95. Being that the tremec's are based off a fox body.


Or are you saying that as long as you have a FRPP driveshaft, you do not need a spacer?

the transmission on the fowes with bellhousing are 5/8 shorter than ours. the tremec follows them and makes theres shorter as well. my tko 500 should come in tomorrow and i ordered a d/s spacer with it.

you technically do not need a spacer for the tko's, but it is better to have the input shaft in all the way!

Exactly, the DS spacer puts the yoke of the DS in all the way. So im wondering if these FRPP DS's need a spacer when u put them on a 94-95. Has anyone ever put one up against their stock piece to measure?

They are the SAME length. The input shaft on our tranny is longer too, which moves the tranny back I believe. the alum driveshaft will fit perfectly if your using a stock tranny, thats for sure, not sure about other trannys as I only have the stock one.

I think the light just went on inside my head . If you have the fox chassis that is shorter than ours with a tranny that is further up, then u compare it to our body that has a longer wheel base but the tranny is further back, im thinking those distances between the tranny and rear end are the same in stock configurations. The DS spacer is needed when u put the shorter transmission on the longer wheel base.
