Backed her out today so I could sweep the floor. While she was out I took some pictures. It was overcast this morning and had been raining.
Pictures taken with a Canon EOS 20D, iso 200, shutter ay 250 and pasture f8. 50mm lens.
The hood is off again since my hinges are broken.

Well i was desperate yesterday so i took the old multifunction switch apart and found it was corroded so i cleaned up all the contacts and got it working but it's still a bit jicky. While testing the wipers the new motor seized up. Another Chinese part.

Even the OEM wiper and other motors have nylon gears and parts that turn to powder with age.

Every time I come across that issue I face/palm.

I always wonder if they [knew] this when they made them.

No more cheap parts for rock auto and parts geek. I still have an O'Reilly commercial account from when my brother and i ran a shop. I will stick with them even though I'll pay more at least i have a brand name with a warranty and local stores to take it for exchange.

I had forgotten that the i had done the single plug wiper motor conversion on my truck. It's a better motor and less problems the two plug harness connectors which were prone to burning up and causing fires.
Mine are in poor shape .

This TSB applies to mustangs as well as trucks.

Also the trucks were bad about burning up the headlight switch especially if you tow a trailer. That's even more lights in that circuit. The mustang gt has that problem because the fog lights are added to that circuit. As the wiring ages you get resistance and loose voltage to your lights.
In my truck i upgraded to led on exterior lights but kept halogen headlights.
They seemed dim so i found the voltage at the lights was less than 12v with the engine running. There's lots of write ups on FullSizeBronco.com

Installing relays is what will correct this issue and give you full power to your lights.
This will work on mustangs too.
I will be doing the relays for headlights and fogs. All exterior lights will be zevo leds.

The purple paint is peeling in a lot of areas.
On the cowl i found some loose so i took a razor blade to it revealing to original paint, bright regatta blue.

Spray max puts 2k paint in a spray can.
You pop the hardener and it mixes in the can. My brother used this to paint cars before. Some O'Reilly's mix paint and put it in these cans. I will probably paint my car it's original color.

Got off work this morning. Going to get some sleep before i start my week off.
I'll be working on my 89 later today.
Got to put the 3g on and take apart the wiper motor to see if i can get it working.
I'm expecting a refund for the new one that stopped working after a few minutes.
I'll use that refund to buy some hood hinges.

Installed a 3g today I got from the PnP.
13.8 volts at idle and gets 14.4 at 1500rpm

So still have a few issues right now but she runs and drives. I've driven ten miles just up and down the road and around the lot here at the rv and boat storage I'm using as a shop. Rear main seal is leaking. I only have a muffler and tail pipe on the driver's side.
The passenger side is open past the h pipe.
Sometimes she's hard to start and I'm suspicious of the fuel pump, it's used and came with the tank. Risky yes but this is what you do when you have no money.
Once running she's fine. A bit rough at 750
But runs cool and is pretty responsive.
It's really better than i expected. I'm usually optimistic because my brother and i have brought a lot of cars back from the dead.

I'll probably piece together the exhaust on that side and eventually I'll get the whole system redone.
I noticed my brake booster isn't boosting anymore. It was fine but i guess that's all it had.

Got too many bills right now. I just paid my rent. $997 and I'm sick of it.

Lease is up in January and I'm moving out.
My mom wants me to live with her because she's not getting around as well anymore. That will help me.
I'll get to use more of my salary.
Plans for next year are a fresh short block, a new exhaust, and a paint job.

I have thought about that. I've seen those crack and you get pressure bleeding off and low volume.
Around 33-34 at idle, off idle 36, goose it and i get 41. It's 37 when cranking. I haven't tested under load. Pressure is only half of it. You also have to have volume.
I'm going to do more tests.

I haven't owned a mustang since 2009.
My 92' lx four banger i bought in 98' with 90k on it was an absolute pleasure. It was loaded with power everything.
Getting this one sure takes me back.

Well I've driven it up and down the road a few times. It feels good.
Last week the iac valve died. But it was an old used one, it worked good for a while.
I'll cough up the money for a new one.
I have put resistors in the tab, tad and evr circuits to simulate the solenoids. That took care of those codes, only one left.
I'm still waiting for the resistors to build the evp simulator. I miss radio shack.
Having to buy components online and pay shipping on them. I mean like, how much do 10 resistors weigh. Like just put them in an envelope and stamp it. Well the ECU has been laying in the floor all this time while i test everything. I'm satisfied with it so i went ahead and buttoned up everything.
I don't anticipate having to access the ECU again.
Anyway here's some pics.

So the heater pipe was broken when I got the car. I have a heater outlet pipe I got at the pick n pull off I think a 3.0 ranger. It fits but it's not like the mustang pipe. I was thinking of just running hoses down the intake. The cheapest replacement pipe I can find is from LMR for 59.99 but with tax and shipping it's 73. Used ones on ebay are higher. So I'm not sure what I want to do yet.

I'd say, for simplicity's sake, splurge on the LMR piece. I just installed one on my Cobra II to get rid of the hoses running down the intake. It sure does take less space than the hoses did!

I'm not sure, but I think the 5.0 Explorers use the same piece, so maybe you could get lucky at your local p-n-p and find one that way.

IIRC that same pipe is used on a ton of V8 cars in the 80's and 90's, check around, LMR ain't they only place.
