Ok guys just picked up a almost mint 0 rust 1989 mustang lx has a 308 with a mild cam that the guy just put in it. That being said when you start it she revs high and after about 30-40 seconds the headers start glowing hot he said he thinks something is roached in the motor because it was making a noise when he first put it in and started it. Now is doesn't make a noise but it revs high and headers get hot fast any advice would be great thanks guys.

lean fuel mixture and/or retarded timing will cause headers to glow..

Not enough fuel/ too much air. Do you own a timming light? Check timming.

Could be a vaccum leak as well. A big one

What supporting modifications?
How old is the fuel pump?
Throttle body/maf/injector size?
Intake type?
Without info we are stabbing in the dark.

Your mass air meter.
Located passenger side by air box or filter.
It must match the injectors.

calibrated for 24lb injectors believe 70 or 75mm diameter

Are you thinking its something to do with that? He had a 331 in the car before this with the same set up and didn't have this issue

Thanks for your help on why my headers are glowing red and car is idling high also when I rev it up to like 3000-3500 when I let off the gas it stays at 3000-3500 where do you think I should start thanks for your help
