8mm 9mm plug wires. which to use

what's the best plug wire size to use with a totally stock 5.0 HO and an MSD 6a box?
I've always used the 8mm MSD wires, but need to replace and have always wondered what a bigger or smaller wire would do

For stock application 8 is fine. The biggest thing is to not have a solid core wire with an MSD. Also a helically or spiral wound will keep EMI down. Also do not wrap or bundle the wires together, keep them separate.

thanks for the quick response bubba-dough. would there be any advantage or disadvantage to using 8.5mm or 9mm?

I use the FMS 9mm wires, I think they hold up a little better with the hedder heat.
