Hey guys I'm not to sure a 90-93 Speedo cluster will work in my 89. I have read that the non airbag cars have to use one of those speedos..can anyone verify?

I was taking my cluster out last night (140mph) out of my 89 because my fuel guage isn't working, and to my suprise I think mine is a 90-93 cluster. Mine doesn't have the idiot lights on the lower right corner...hmmmm

So I guess this means I CAN run a 90-93 cluster.

HMMMMMM

Don't think the 89's had the light in the bottom croner, like the 87-88's. A newer clust won't work in you car with some modifications. mainly swapping the plastic circut panel. Did it, on an 87 coupe when doing a 4cyl to 8cyl swap using all 92 interior. I tried a newer style cluster in my 88 once and it didn't work. When doing the 4cyl conversion we used the 92 cluster but put the circut panel form an 87-89 on it and had no problems..

How can you tell the diff in a 89 140mph and a 90-93 140?
I thought it was the dummy lights, but if the 89's didn't have it...dunno

Glad you got it fixed. You can tell the difference between the clusters immediately by the bottoms. 87-89 are flat across the bottom, while the 90-93 have an arch cut out above the steering wheel.
