Ok, so as you guys may or may not know, Kenne Bell specifically recommends using only their 90mm MAF and big tube setup with their 99-04 kit. They also say the OEM maf is pegged at around 408rwhp..

Here's my question.

Are any of you 9psi KB guys using another MAF, say the 90mm Lightning/Cobra MAF, without modifying the KB tune? If so, are you having any problems? Is there even a difference between the "KB" MAF and the cobra MAF, or is it the same thing? Also, isn't the lightning MAF calibrated for 42 pound injectors? The KB kit uses 36#, so what's the trick around that?

The LMAF and corbra mafs is not calibrated to any injector size. The injector size is handled in the tune. The MAF has a flow table that simply translates pounds per hour to a specific voltage. That table is programmed into the tune as the maf curve.

As to whether KB is just repackaging an OEM lightning or cobra maf, I don't know, but if the MAF's are different, you have to modify the tune to change it.

You may be better off posting this on MPH or Modularfords (KB tech section) for better results.

I think only a qualified installer or KB themselves can answer this correctly.

i have the bigtube kit. pretty sure its just the L maf. i would assume you will need a retune but i would ask a tuner or KB first

Everything jstreet said is correct. By the way, when I got my KB blower they told me the stock maf was good to 500hp. I wonder if they're trying to sell a 90mm maf/tube kit..... ya think.
