Yes, like stated above all factory ford mafs are setup to measure the air going into the motor not the fuel. That is done elsewere in the eec.
To run a factory ford maf you will need a tuner to program that maftransfer, basicly the graph that states X amount of air at given volts from .01v to 5.0v.
The larger 4.6 family of maf is also going to need a pigtail like mentioned above.
Honestly, the Lmaf and 03 cobra maf (I am suspect that they are basicly one in the same like our gt and cobra maf...no proof but a hunch/idea/guess) might be a little too large for a fairly stock motor as the amount of airflow in the upper end of the transfer/flow/voltage range is going to be out of the range the car will need. If you have plans to go bigger fine but if they are far off...hold off. The stocker is good for some 300rwhp so dont be so eager to jump to a larger maf.
