92 lx to 5.0 swap

i'm just curious on how hard this actually is? i have a complete wiring harness outa an 89 gt, and a computer outa a automatic 89 gt. i have everything need to do the swap. but my main concern is that the wiring harness is different. was told that the 91 and newer harness has 1 plug of 16 and the 90 and older have 2 plugs of 8?? and since i have all the parts to do the swap, is it possible to do it in a weekend? also, can i use the 4 cyl. springs? or would that not be ok? thanx for the info., O, the 92 is a 5 speed as well.

do 92 4-cyc's have the "IRCM" if so i think it will make the swap much harder but not impossible. you can use the 4cyc springs w/ no real problem but, i'd reccomend finding another tranny and rear end becuase they will be toast in no time

Its not too bad but you want to make sure the engine harness and the dash harness are compatable. If you have a '92 dash harness then you want to use a '92 engine harness. You can use the AOD computer if you want to run a 5sp. The 4cyl springs will work as well.

Personally speaking from experience, I would never want to do another EFI 4cyl to V8 conversion again if I didnt have a complete parts car available...

well, i have the complete dash wiring for a 89 gt as well, but will it work in the 92? i have everything right down to the electic window switch.

you will have a couple pins off in the gigantic plug between the dash and motor harness.. 90-93 and 87-88 and 89.. there all diff by the least bit. Your best bet is change out the dash harness also and you also have to use a 5.0 cluster for your gauges tto work. And if your LX is anything like my 92, you might have issues with air bag sensors and such.. mine were just cut off i have no idea where the guy put it

i also have a 88gt basicaly for parts. the 92 does have a airbag, but i read that its on a different harness n wont interfear wid the engine n dash harness. the 88 is pretty rusty and has stress cracks. the 92 is cherry, but has a 4 in it. my original plan was to swap the 4 out, that was 2 years ago. now i finally got a 88gt i bought for parts. i'm also gonna be selling a complete set of ground fx off the gt, minus the rear bumber(is broke). i'm looking for a saleen set. also will have the gt rear lights up as well.
