hi guys--
first post here. so i went out yesterday morning to go to work and my 93 lx wouldn't start. it turns over but it won't start. so i called my buddy who is a mechanic and we did some troubleshooting. the fuel pump primes, the car is getting spark and fuel. we finally narrowed it down to a stuck injector that was dumping fuel into the third cylinder and causing it to flood. we changed the injector and tried it again and no luck. we are at a loss as to what it can be. my friend is upset cuz he has yet to work on a car that has left him stumped. what do you guys think it is?? any input is appreciated.

Pop the plug out of the front of the timing cover (or just look behind it at the cam sprocket) and verify that the timing belt is turning.

Most likely this is your problem if you have both spark and fuel- the timing belt either snapped or has teeth worn off of it.

haven't checked for codes yet. the timing belt turns and appears to be intact. oddly enough, i went out last nite after i posted and it started up after a few seconds but ran really roughly. i drove it around for about five minutes and it ran rough the whole time. i havent had a chance to try it again, though. i think maybe it was still flooded after we replaced everything and trying it again just flooded it more. it sat for a couple hours before i finally got it started. i will try it again in the morning and see what happens. we are pretty sure it is getting adequate fuel pressure, but my friend's pressure gage appears to be faulty, the attachment for use on fords is really funky. it was reading pressure for a little bit but then it stopped. he had never used it before and he kind of cheaped out when he bought it. i'll let you guys know what i find out in the morning
