I'm just not following your Q here Trav

Are you talking about a Fox oem or after market tb

What are you trying to accomplish here

over at sn95forum they were talking about clearance issues with valve covers and the alternator...they said the best way to clear it up was to use a intake spacer and a 93 throttle body conversion...? i thought someone here had done it....i never know it would be so hard to change valve covers haha

Now I understand

I do not believe that conversion is gonna produce power gains
when you are talking about typical NA combos.

Stuff I've seen said about the mod

Some say the throttle response is so much better from the mod
however
IIRC, I think the opening rate on a Fox is direct
as opposed to
Our gradual rate on the SN tb's

If that info about the opening rates of the tb blade is true
some may be
confusing the faster rate of operation for improved throttle response

Having not done the mod myself, I can only comment about basic airflow
info a friend of mine who does that kind of thing for a living has told me.

After seeing pics of both setups
he said the bend on the Fox setup
wouldn't be any less restrictive
than the bend at the SN elbow

About clearance issues you have heard about

I had to go with different VC's as my stud Scorpion's are rather large
thus
They just wouldn't fit under the oem VC's

I went with some Fox VC's a friend gave me
Worked Great with a mod or two

1) I had to remove a tiny bit of material on a couple of bosses
2) I had to do a little work around on the oil filler spout
3) I had to shim out the alt about 80 thousandths of an inch

No intake spacer needed and I kept the oem EGR system in place

Seems Edelbrock's give a bit more room than most other intakes
and
I base that on I've seen several others who needed no spacers

Considering I got the VC's for free
and
I had no more than an hour in those simple mods

I can't see myself spending all that cash for the Fox setup
and
Not getting any kind of power gain for the whole deal

i ported the opening on my intake to 75 to match the fox throttle body.

CAI- custom make one. its easy

REASON- cleans up the engine compartment, no ugly elbow. the elbow on the cobra intake squishes as it comes to the opening compared to a fully opened CAI would.

THROTTLE RESPONSE- i noticed a big difference. i didnt have to put the pedal down halfway to get the rev's up. cruising around, i barely have my foot on the pedal. i like the feeling the cable gave. probably because the return spring is one mechanical piece with the cable. you could do the "throttle cable mod" on the stock setup but i'm not sure if it will feel the same.

theres a great guide above in the HOW TO sticky.

heres a pic of mine
