I am lookin at a 94 Cobra to purchase that the owner says its droppin 512 at the wheels. He says that the previous owner told him the mods that are done to it including a powerdyne s/c. He is running 9lbs of boost. I am still waiting for a list of other mods done to the vehicle he is putting it together. The car has 59k w/4 k on the motor. I am just wonderin if you guys think this is reasonable or if the hp he says it is puttin out is a little high. I intend on having him get it dynoed prior purchase but I am just lookin for some opinions. Also, it has had 3 owners.. help me with what things should concern me, if any here. thanks

512 to the wheels at only 9 psi? a good h/c/i car with 9 pounds im guessing would do around 400-425 at the wheels... maybe its a 347 or 331 though

More information, like a complete list of mods and selling price would help out.

Get a carfax on it and make sure it has not been wrecked. Three owners and no wrecks on a cobra would be a good deal.

Keep in mind...

If it really is making 512 RWHP on the stock block, it probably won't last very long.

it put a 5 psi pulley on it to get that power level down. and that way the motor is stressing less on the lower boost level. you can always swap if your going to the track or what not

im just looking to see if this even seems reasonable, i know i probably posted a little early being that I don't have all the mods but just thought i'd start the conv. It just seemed like it might be a bit much to me.. maybe not though. Anyone know of any dynos located around southwest corner of Oregon? Thanks

I honestly don't see those power numbers he is claiming in that combo but of course I don't know the C.I.D. of that motor either?

Stranger things have happened, but based off of those mods I can't see 500+rwhp. Maybe he is calculating flywheel HP or something? If he had it dyno'd I'd ask for a dyno graph.

Is it still the stock block, I know it has forged piston, normally the ford interals will last longer then the block itself. I am not sure how much hp the stock block can hold but I am pretty sure 500 is pretty close

The 92-up cars do not have forged pistons. I think it was mid 1991 production change from forged to hyper pistons.

Gonna need more than that to break 500 at the wheels...Depending on how you drive it, I wouldn't worry about the block if it has a good tune...
