94 GT to 95 cobra intake swap

I cant help on how much to polish a cobra intake but I will ask my friend (he was on last months cover of mm&ff magazine) Yes, if the price is right buy the cobra intake. Can you define how ported it is? Is it a 94/95 cobra intake or is it a fox style with the adapter elbow?

If you are no sure if the car has gears already jack up the rear end and spin the wheel and see how many times the driveshaft spins to 1 full revolution of the wheel. This IS your gear ratio. For example if the driveshaft spins 3 1/2 times you have a 3.55 gear. capish?

I asked my friend and he said its about $300 to polish an upper intake. How much $ does this guy want for the intake? He's right you don't need a 75mm tb, stock can work but while your there might as well get the 75mm TB done. I recommend 373 or 410 gears. Whata re your goals for the car?

excuse the pics, they were taken at night, that intake is soon to be 4sale, it is a t-moss lower with a gasket matched upper, including the TB opening opened to 65mm

the color is chrome powdercoat.......i like it and it is pretty much maintenance free.

Polishing does nothing for flow and opening ports a "little" sounds like it will have no affect either - basically a stock intake.

I don't think it will give you that much. Remember advertised hp on parts is what they "can make" with the right parts. I installed a stock cobra intake on my gt and I "guess" it gave me about 15 with what I have done to mine (check my garage to view my mods)

sounds to me like that setup is too much manifold for the crappy E7 heads. 75MM is too big, I'd go 65MM, but if he ported the TB opening to 75, you are gonna have a lot of turbulence there, even if you got an adapter, the air would rush through the 65MM with good velocity and hit this huge area, and kind of stop for a second till the vacuum drew what little amounts the stock heads can pull. at least that's how I see it happening. if you had like edelbrock heads or something hten it's a different situation.

Larry - 24HP with no other changes to a stock car is probably not gonna be there. Also, don't look at "peak" numbers everyone quotes - what counts is how much added torque an intake change will give yuou over the whole usable rpm band. Most of my ported lower customers see ~15HP peak, but torque is up across the board. Jason's intake is a nice one for a stock headed car.

An intake change gives you more flow potential, it's up to the other parts of the engine to support that flow and turn it into more HP.

I told him about what you said, and he said this:


i think he meant its like a stock cobra intake. The upper intake matches a 75mm throttle body. Its been ported quite a bit. My job is working on cars, although i attend school. This intake manifold went 11.42 at 123mph in the 1/4 mile on my car when it had the heads the cam this intake and a vortech a-trim supercharger (now the car is turbocharged). This intake is capable of handling a 10 second pass, which equates to about 600 hp. It does its job so i was very happy with it. come take a look at it. It works great for the money and time. thanks.

Larry...... I am with tom on this one...i would at least want pics, to look at the work before buying........I don't think you would be dissapointed if you got it, ported or not.....and then when you added heads and cam if that is what you are gonna do, you would be really happy with it.....

I fyou are gonna just have a fun street car, i would go with something like toms intake for sure, i put one on my car when it was near stock, the torque i gained was amazing, it was a diff car...pulled higher into the rpm range as well.

Just trying to help figure out what you want outta the car....lol

It's the Chinese knock off of the Eddelbrock intakes. Runner casting is rough I understand but most who have bought and used them like them.

It's a knock off of the E-brock RPM manifold which is a bit much for a pretty stock stang.
