Ok,

I looked through the forum to find any related topics before I post this wuestion and nothing worked for me. I transplant these Ho's into jeeps. Mine will start right up and then run fine. Once it gets up to operating temperature, it will not restart. Now, this could be ECT. I had to replace the IAC becasue it would not idle properly, yet when the IAC went bad, that is when all of this mess started. Engine grounds were discussed in other topics, however this is odd the motor runs fine, but will not start again until it cools off or I wait a day. There are times when I have to hold the throttle down. Very interesting. I checked the output on the TPS and IAC compared to my 5.0 in my explorer and they were the same. Furthermore, the jeep ran when I disconnected the IAC! Everytime the IAC is disconnected, the motor always shut off.

Any help would greatly be appreciated. I have a code reader but it won't work for some reason. Hope you guys can shed some light here.

Good Luck!
Corey

Maybe the TFI module?? They have been known to be the culprit in start probs like this, once it cools down some, it lights off...the PIP sensor in the dizzy may be another area to look at???

Mine is mounted on the fenderwell, it is a 94 model. due to the problem that ford had with the tfi mounted to the distributor they moved it. Anything else?

.............. check your TFI module. No matter the location of the TF*cough*Ignition*cough* module, it still has it's purpose.

*edit: also I think autozone will test if for free... but I don't see how that can really help you out since it only has a problem when it's hot. maybe you can stick it in the microwave in autozones break room and test it.

If you have them test it make sure they get it really Hot. I had the same problem and had someone at Autozone test it, and it came out as okay. They got it hot, but not hot enough. Still had the problem and told my cousin (ASE cert., works on Jags) and he tested it again, only made extremely hot, and it was bad. Got a new one, and it ran (and started) great!
Also test the stator in the distributor as this can cause a similar starting problem when bad.
