I raced my friends 2000 ram air 6spd last night with my 95 5.0 5spd, 2.5in hpipe, bbk cold air, 70mm tb. He waited for me to go then he would start and by the end of 1st gear he would have 1 length on me and then he shifted to second and by about 100mph he had about 4or5 on me and he was still pulling me. Anyways I am fairly happy with the outcome. Has anyone here ever beaten an LS1 without going to heads and cam, with just intakes, gears and other bolt ons?? Is it even a possibility?

White Devil I'm not doubting you beat some without heads and cam but these were stop light tangos, correct? My friends 2000 Firebird Formula is ridiculous in 3rd gear. From a roll the LS1s pull like crazy. I recently bought the Nitrous Kit to see how I do against him now. However, he does have a 100 shot so in the end I ultimately lose.

It takes a nice h/c/i setup (motor wise) to take a ls1 (98+ maro/transams). Look at mph...not trap speed.

The ls1 should have pulled you a bit harder than that...

Explain the difference :D

Ooppsss...lol...typo :bang:

I meant look at mph and not E.T.

Ls1's with the t56 have trapped as high as 109-110mph stock with a good driver. It takes a nice h/c/i package to equal that mph given.

Oh the memories :p

I've been to r-ville lately...just been messing around. I heard you raced John (98 Gt)...he called me and told me about it. He missed second and you went screaming by him...lol.

Yeah I don't really know if the 00 Formula was running what he was running. I know my car (even the "piece" that it is) would kill my old 2000 Gt and I'm running 10.6 (on my last run). Wasn't that what the formula said he ran? I think he beat us by a couple cars right?

Forget about going after LS1's. The Trans Am's and Camaro's are to fast.
A Supercharger will put your GT near them...

 I raced a modded (had exhaust and at least some sort of cam) LS1 Trans Am, and he beat me by about 4-5 car lengths. That was only up to 80 though. He probably would have kept pulling after that. Keep in mind this was with only my intake, some boltons, h-pipe, and that's it. No suspension, no heads, no cam, no headers and stuff.

yea the ls1's are ridiculous. I drove a stock 99 formula the other day(when i say drove i mean DROVE :D ) anyway, they are bad assssss. with decent driving i might be avle to keep up with a stock one off spray. Powershifting was made easy with the t56 :nice:

one of these will actually be my next car(i will keep mine too)

Before my sn95 i had the 2000 camaro ss 6 speed with 100 shot on it, exhuast, pulleys, cat delete, some intake stuff, with drag radials, i was going 12.20's, No mustang close to stock except 03 04 cobras has a chance, you have to mod, But anyone can go buy a f body and go 13's Its much more fun IMO to build what you race, had have the guy in the LS1 wondering what happened.

And let's not forget you can mod (and so can the owner) an ls1. They don't just stay stock. They are beatable...just do some mods. You need to go with a power adder or get into the engine a bit.
