Ok so i finally let my old man talk me into it. I raced his 67 fastback the other day. I figured i would do better than i did. First of all i have a 95 GT. Engine wise its basically stock. Other than a K&N, BBK o/r x-pipe and flowmaster cat back. Suspension on the other hand is rather tweaked. Kenny Brown stage 3.... And the list goes on. To the good part. The 67 has been fully restored right down to the original 15" wheels. But the engine on the other hand is a HiPo 289. Bored ".030 over, Cam, Aluminum heads,Ported Polished all the goodies. So we line up in the road. I knew i would take him off the line. I have 3.55's And the 67 well he over looked his rearend during restoration and stuck with the limited slip. Sure enough i took him off the line rather well. I glance back in my rearview and there he was. Comming outta his 200 foot one legger. I was chuckling to myself thinking damn that was easy. Well boy was i wrong. It was about the time i went into fourth he pretty much handed me my own Azz on a silver platter. There was no smiles anymore. Reality kicked in. He took me buy about 2 car lengths. Im still trying to get him to invest in a posi rearend! I think hes gonna go for it now! Anyone know a good place to get a cheap one?

Got any suggestions on how i can level out the playing field?

lol...he obviously has mroe power than you...but the 5.0 can be made it to a beast for relatively cheap!!

you mean open differential??....youve got a limited slip in your car as well...a limited slip just allows the inner wheel to spin slower when cornering...it is still locked and wont peg leg unless its busted...

if I'm not mistaken, that 289 hipo is factory rated at 272 horse at the crank? So basically you're gonna need to bolt on mods to the tune of roughly 80-90 horse at the crank to compete. A eddie perf will get you there faster...

I own a 94 GT and a 67 GT. The 67 has a 390(396 after we bored it .030") and the 94 has a 347 stroker. The 94 is by far the faster car, and it probably has less power. It weighs less, has much improved suspension, and is just a better design. Don't get me wrong I love my 67. It was my first car and now my dad owns it and is doing a complete restoration because I kind of hacked it into a race car. But the 94 can go so much faster and look so much better for much cheaper. O and my 67 has the open differential as well. If your dad gets some kind of limited slip, you're done for.
