did the gt 4o head swap on my 95 the intake i know for a fact blows big time i ported the hell out of it but its still seriously smaller than the gt40.s gt40,s are fullyport and polished was cureous as to if the fox body lower intakes are any bigger or are the 86-95 lower intakes the same?

Yeah its the same its just the upper that is different b/c they dont have the elbow bend as the 94/95's do. If you want a better intake to match your GT40 heads then get a Cobra, Trick Flow, Edelbrock Intake.

If your gt40's are ported, and ported correctly. I would look at getting at least a gt40 intake and having Tmoss port the lower.

Tmoss ported my stock lower that I used on my gt40 heads before they were ported. I must say the opening of the intake was about a dead match to the unported heads and it was a great match IMHO.

When I got the heads ported I came across a explorer intake and Tmoss did a little port work to the lower. Again I think the match is great.

Depending on how your heads are ported I would look at a gt40 and if you can get one cheap enough have the lower ported. If you can not find a decent price on a gt40 and you really think the heads need something more than a stock gt40 intake can deliver...get something like a TFS or edlbrock intake. Really if you can not find a gt40 at a good price by the time you port it as well you could be looking at as much as aftermarket intakes. Explorer intakes are not hard to come buy and can be had for cheap so they are out there.

If you wanna stay with OEM stuff

At least look to the OEM stuff that will produce better results :nice:

Why not consider Cobra or even an Explorer intake

Lots of em around and they are not all that expensive

ya the stock one even ported there just isnt enough metal to port to match it to the gt40,s a big difference in size im thinking atleast a quarter inch off and its ported ya im trying to find a deal on an intake just wasnt sure if all the lower intakes were the same flow and diameter

All gt40 intakes will bolt to one another and flow IIRC 10% from one another...production variance seems to be the why some flow good while some flow lower.

The only thing you need to really look out for is with the exploder intakes there are 2 styles. One that is internal EGR passages like the fox intakes that can use the fox style EGR plate or be blocked off/used with the elbow to fit our t-body/egr setup. The second style is an external EGR with NO egr passages, you either have to delete the EGR with a fox t-body setup or use an elbow and our t-body setup as our cars use external EGR as well. Not a big issue either way but depending on what you want to do EGR and t-body you should be aware of the diff.

Also I want to recall that in some cases its not that bad to have a slightly smaller intake opening going into a larger head port. It seems to help with volocity but it means the intake has to still flow enough to feed the heads intake port. This is from a meeting we had with a local head porter regarding different style 4.6 intakes...as we were putting a SVO 4.6 intake on a brand new 2000gt (making this some time ago now) and we took the stock intake to the porter and we went over how to get the SVO to even fit/work and if it was worth while.
