alright i have a 95 mustang gt with the 302 in it but the other day i went to go some were the car started fine but when i got there it wouldnt shut off so i took it to my gfs dad and he sead the switch under the stearing colom so i replaceed it same proble but when he got done to look at it the sead that the spring inside the colom was bad or broken realy what im asking is the a way to fix it without having to buy a new colom

better way to explan..... The other day my ignition lock cylinder failed. The key roatates freely. I can start the car but there is no spring-back to the run position. I can not shut off the car using the key. Also, the steering wheel will not lock. I have replaced the ignition lock cylinder but I still have the same problem. I can see there is a yellow plastic shaft with a rectangular cross-section that moves fore and aft in the steering column when I rotate the key. I cannot find this part in my Chilton repair manual. I think it may have something to do with the problem. Can you help me with this problem?

Its the rod inside the steering col. thats broken... the one that does from the ign switch to the key. Might be easier to just get a new col.
