looking at buying a 97 cobra with a r title. It’s my uncles car it was rear ended and was considered totaled but everything was fixed really good no frame damage or anything . Not just thrown together and put back on the road either. It’s got about 77 thousand miles and is in great shape. Way better then any 97 mustangs you see around in my opinion. Only thing wrong is the factory stereo doesn’t work anymore. Just woundering the value for the car with a R title. I talked them down the whole way to 3500 dollars.

Welcome to Stangnet
Sounds like a nice car and a pretty good price -post up some pics of it-give the folks something to look at while they help you figure out the value.
General rule of thumb around my area for the value of salvaged vehicles.Usually is take the blue book value, and knock off 35-50%. Depending on quality of repair/overall quality of the vehicle.

There are a couple I remember a slight gap in the front bumper but that had nothing to do with the accident and it’s something I think I could adjust and fix

Looks quite good. If the work done is as good as you say it is then $3500.00 for 77K is is a very good deal I would think.

I agree with raggedy, with an average price @12 to 13k thats a deal. If your uncle has the paperwork from the repair shop and any pics of the repairs keep them handy. There maybe an issue with insurance value with an R title but the paperwork will back you up. A lot of older stangs that got totaled in the past were rebuilt and the title never show'd it and insurance companies got leary when they were wrecked again with significant damage in low speed collisions do to shoddy workmanship and now they issue the R titles to better address this when insuring older vehicles so paperwork is important.
Nice stang and good score.
And welcome aboard.

It was also done to protect the consumer. If you see salvage on the title you hopefully have the brains to ask about it and have it checked out closely. I finally gave up on them(they always seem to be the farthest from home too LOL) after so many lies about what was wrecked/fixed.
