98 Cobra or 87 Grand National?

I have had three stangs and i love them but after the last one i had i was really disapointed. It was a 98 Gt with a P-1SC kit. After the kit i still only had 312 Hp to the wheels and 352 tq. i have a chance of getting a 98 Cobra that is repoed and i have been researching the Grand National and it almost take nothing to make them a 11 Sec street machine. So what do you guys think about the 98 Cobra and the 87 Grand National decision? thanks, Randy

unless its a terminator....go GN....the GN/Regal Turbo T's are the ONLY GM products I would ever own and be proud of it....super sick cars. My buddy just got a 10.80 out of his last night

I like the 98 Cobra but a real clean GN catches my eye much more..there aren't as many around as there used to be.. my brother in law works on a local guys GNX and I absolutely love those cars! thats saying alot since Im not a fan of GM products at all...

eh, i would go for the 98 Cobra. the GN is pretty much a one trick pony. good for the 1/4mi but not much else.

The GNX is a hot ride, I had a Regal T-Type and it was way easy to make big power but DBMSTNG is right. They are heavy and handle like chit so they are only good for straight runnin. They can seat four alot more comfertably (spelling?). But the big thing is the Cobra is just a damn fine looking machine. I was just comming back from Napa with an O2 a few min ago and was amazed that I spanked a new trailblazer SS. Dont thoes have like 400hp? We both got into it at 40 mph and I just walked away from him and my Cobra is pretty close to stock.

TBSS also is an SUV, you're in a lil two door coupe They are low 14's stock in the AWD ones, with a tune upper-mid 13's.

Personally, I would go with the 98 cobra simply because its newer, and a "nicer" car. A vortech kit and an exhaust on a 98 cobra you're looking at 400-450 wheel on a stock block, pretty easily - it wouldn't be like your old non-pi GT If you want a newer body style mustang, but want to make some good power fast/cheap/easy maybe a 94/95 GT/Cobra with a 5.0...you can push them up to about 500-550 before they start splitting blocks rofl.

another thing to think about...the main car in the new fast n furious movie is a buick GN...so, if you dont buy one now, you wont be able to afford one in the future most likely....and, if you buy a GN now and hate it...you'll turn a profit later

Wheel Frenzy The Edmunds car-enthusiast website broke the story that the sequel will (a) take place in Rio; (b) team up prior series stars Paul Walker, Vin Diesel and Tyrese Gibson; and © put Diesel behind the wheel of a 1987 Buick GNX. Not sure what Walker and Gibson will be driving, but I'm hoping for a '73 Gremlin and a '69 Pinto.

Yeah, a clean GN will usually fetch a high premium if you end up not liking it. It is getting harder and harder to find them now. I see late model cobras everyday!

Yup. A PRISTINE GNX was on sale a while ago on fleabay. IIRC, it had under 1000 miles and had all the original plastic on the mats and floors. I don't even think it was registered. The original owner basically drove it home and stored it for 20 something years.

The bid was over 100k at the time, and was still going

The way I see it if your going to (mostly) garage it, the GN would probably be a good investment, but if your going to drive it, the Cobra is the way to go. The Cobra came only as a 5sp. manual, and will out handle and be a much more fun car to drive. The GNs have the stock old mans interior, some even have digital dashes that are just square and ugly (IMO). GNs were also automatics only if that matters to you - it would be a big negative for me.
