Okay here's the deal. Gutless racing! Three of us at work have 'stangs. We're taking bets on who'll win in the quarter. Rate the cars 1st, 2nd, and 3rd. Tell us what you think. Maybe we'll get a chance to run 'em some day, but for now, your answers will hold us over. Drivers being equal on full weight cars, here's the lineup:

The cars:

'98 cobra
All stock except 3.73 gears, Steeda timing adjuster, Triax shifter,Bassani catted X, Pullies, Magnaflow magnapack mufflers, K&N filter
Never been dynoed.

'95 gt
All stock except 3.55 gears, Pro 50 shifter, Mac shorties, Borla cat back (factory H), 30 lb injectors, Walbro 255 fuel pump, Powerdyne 6 lb unit and custom tune.
Dyno: 260hp/300tq

The third car is my '93 gt. Check my sig for mods. A lot of stuff listed, but nothing that makes a ton of hp.
Dyno: 236hp/286 tq

I'm saying the cobra will win on hp alone. :nice:
Will the weight difference between my '93 and my buddy's '95 even us out, even though he's posting better dyno numbers, or will I be :owned: ?

Rate us 1,2,3!

There really is no way to tell unless you go and race. All three I think are equally in the same territory as far as performance.

Even though you say equal drivers. These races will come down to that. A good driver is the best mod of all.

I'm gonna vote the '95 will win for the same reasons that Dbeck002 listed. As for you vs. the Cobra, hard to say. You may beat the Cobra on torque, but if it can pull to the HP peak, then it may best you.

Hope you guys run and get some ETs and MPH to post.

Cobra and 95 Gt should be very close. 93 gt will finish last.

Of course this is with equal drivers.

Drivers will make up any difference and will be more of a determining factor.

I think that the dyno numbers for the 95 are a little low....ok alot low. With the supercharger and the custom tune that number should be way higher IMO.

Anyhow I think the 95 would win followed by the 98 then the 93. Run em and let us know :nice:

Actually the 95gt is putting out the "right" amount of power. It is basically just a supercharger. The rest is just fuel upgrades (not horsepower there) and a bit of exhaust work. Going from 185rwhp to 260rwhp is just about right with a powerdyne 6lb unit. That is almost more than I would expect:shrug:

The 98 Cobra will dyno right around 255-260rwhp...and it has a slightly steeper gear with a broader torque band up top for a nice highway run. It will be close.

The 93 will be somewhat close with them because it being a tick lighter...but will still lose assuming same style/launching drivers.

Your car has a 5.0, the 95 has a 5.0, your car is N/A, the 95 has a super charger - it is faster lol

Having a supercharger doesn't necessarily make the car faster. If you noticed the dyno numbers, the GT only makes 24 more hp and 16 more lb/ft of torque. The GT weighs around 200 lbs more, so I think that would be definately close. I think this will be a close race; it would be really cool if you could all 3 go at the same time so there isn't discrepencies.

And I'm w/ 5spd: I'd also expect a 5-6lb s/c to supply no more than 70-75hp over stock. Stock rwhp is generally 190's+70=260ish The headers and catback might bring a few hp, but nothing major on a stock motor I assume.

User - you're looking only at peak numbers; I was thinking about vehicle weights and AVERAGE hp/torque over the curve. The 95 has a weight advantage over the Cobra; the 93 a slight weight advantage over the 95. We're all guessing, but I still think if the 95 has the traction to launch hard, it will pull the other two.

Run 'em and tell us -- inquiring minds want to know. Get an independant 4th party to drive all three to remove the driver from the equation -- I volunteer.....

This is as bad as 3 17 years olds standing in line at the last Star Wars movie debating who would win - ObiWan vs. Darth Vader vs. Chewbacca.....

95 1st if it has traction; Cobra 2nd; you're last.

So then you're voting Obi-Wan? How many times does Darth have to kick his butt before you come around to the dark side???

Well each car is different and requires a different launch and believe it or not they shift differently when you add in the different trannies (1 different) and shifters...or clutch styles. Hard even with one driver to make it cancel out the driver factor.

It's going to be close...(average horsepower or not).
