Installed the C&L Plenum on my 98 GT today. Only other mods I have are series 40 flowmaster and a UPR offroad X-Pipe without cats and a MAC CAI. Tried the C&L with the MAC CAI and it made my exhaust quieter. Really like the C&L Plenum. Pulls alot better in 3rd and 4th over 3000 rpm. Kept the stock TB. Could not see spending the extra $200 for 2 HP since I only drive this car on the street. Took off the MAC CAI and put back on the stock pipe with a K&N and silencer removed. Exhaust tone is alot better and I can tell no difference SOTP between the stock pipe and the CAI. I am leaving the CAI off, this thing just gets too damn hot. I think the CAI was all in my head when it came to SOTP feel.

Just my 2 cents.

By the way it only took 15 minutes to put the C&L Plenum on--piece of cake!

If your looking for a good CAI try the Steeda HI Flow cold air kit. I have a friend with it and he loves the gains over the MAC CAI and the filter is 9". Go to www.Steeda.com

Sounds good, im looking to do the plenum sometime soon as well. Ive never really thought about the whole 200 bucks for 2 hp before. Doesnt really seem worth it does it? The only thing i find wrong with the steeda is the price tag. Thats halfway to some rear end gears and install right there for maybe 4 or 5 hp. I dunno.

Rear end gears...

No or little Freway driving = 4.10's (although alot of people with 4.10's say it's ok)
Freway driving = 3.73's (best all around gear)

I definitely want to get gears installed. I think I am going to get a stall converter and shift kit first. I hate having an automatic , but the price was right so I bought it. Thanks for the replies.
