I have a 98 V6 mustang and it's slow on the takeoff. I have to literally push the pedal all the way down for it to get going. But it has no problem going when I do step on it. Someone told me the o2 sensors might be causing it or even the fuel filter. Any help would be appreciated.

Fuel filter, spark plugs, spark plug wires, coil packs, dirty MAF, excessive EGR flow, vacuum leak, bad O2 sensors, dirty/clogged fuel injectors, clogged exhaust, base engine ring/valve wear are all examples of things that could cause the symptom.

How about starting with cleaning the MAF.

How old are the spark plug wires? If original, they are at least 12 years old. How about the spark plugs?

Any check engine lights? If so please post the full codes.

How's the fuel mileage?

How many miles? What is the results of a compression test?

I changed the spark plugs and wires about 2 months ago with new ones and it made it run better but didn't help takeoff. The check engine light is on but I have not got that tested yet. I think it probably just needs some cleaning like you said. I've never checked the MAF or the o2 sensors so I'll to working on that. Thank you!:hail2:

take your car to advanced auto and they'll pull the codes for you for free as long as your check engine light is on. It takes like 10 seconds. Make sure they give you the full codes and come back and post them here or pick up the parts you need while your there and slap em on, then let us know if your still having issues.
