What are some thoughts on lowering springs. Eibachs, ford racing, any other brands that people on here have used and suggestions please. If you have any pictures of the final stance with the new springs, post them as well. I am looking to lower a 99 cobra. How difficult is it to remove the rear springs in the independent rear end? Thanks

I have the H&R SS springs, and tokico illumins shocks, and struts. on a 97 though. I would be nervous going any lower, unless you used airbags, or coilovers. A lot of guys go lower, but it will get expensive, fixing alignment, and fitting tires and wheels, need to be considered. I had a guy ride in my cobra, and told me it rode much better than his c springs. Pro kit is a safe one. I just wanted something different, and the reviews are way to confuseing, isolaters, or no isolaters, add or subtract probably 1/4 " look at my link, maybe that will give you an idea. I don't hit on much, unless I'm not paying attention. If you can get out the fronts, the rears shouldn't be much harder. www.injectedracing.com did all of my stuff, and mostly works with the irs cars now. Good luck

I have an '01 Cobra vert with the H&R Super Sport springs w/ '00 Cobra R Bilsteins. IMHO, it sits too low in the front - I do hit high spots in the road with the K member - like peaks or high road repairs. Have to be very careful. Other than that, it looks killer - get lots of compliments. Ride is firm but not jarring or harsh. Rides much better than my fox with the "C" springs. As for putting them in, the front is the same as all fox platform cars - I didn't use a compressor - just undid the strut and stay bar ends and lowered the arm very slowly. Be careful here.

The best way to do the IRS is to remove the subframe bolts on one side at a time and let it down slowly - springs will nearly fall out. Pay atrtention to where the stockers are located and put the new ones back the same way - I marked mine. To do the subframe bolts, you will probably have to loosen the exhaust (I didn't remove mine, but had to move it around). You may have to undo the lower shock mount as well - can't remember - been too long. I tried doing this with a compressor first, but because the H&R SS's are progressive, the compressor bound up in the dead coils and I couldn't remove it with weight on the car - hence, removing the subframe bolts. This proved much easier than the other approach. Getting the subframe back in is a PITA, but doable with one guy and a large pry bar - that's how I did it.

I used the stock rubber isolators on both ends but I think I'm going to replace them all with the poly ones (MM makes a revised version for the IRS pockets) to try and raise it up a bit - tired of the risk of hitting the K all the time. Good luck.

I had some 1/4 inch spacers that came either with my springs, or shocks and struts. I had them on until I replaced my isolators, then left them out, something like that might help you out, only my air dam scrapes, and have only hit bottom 3 times since I put the springs in???? pm me if that might help. chris

Steeda sports worked well for me. Stock shocks still on. about an inch or slightly less of a drop. Gets rid of that 4x4 look and improves cornering, of course.
